AmiciMusic, founded in 2011 in Asheville, NC, is dedicated to performing the highest quality chamber music in intimate venues and non-traditional spaces on a monthly basis in both Asheville and Baltimore. We are committed to breaking down barriers between performers and audiences by setting up a more relaxed, informal, and welcoming atmosphere at concerts and through informative talks about the composer's life before each piece is played.

Daniel Weiser, piano, is the founder and Artistic Director of AmiciMusic. He has been described as "truly a master Impresario" and "a force of pianistic energy" who can "absolutely smoke the 88 keys." He has performed in fifteen countries around the world, including Egypt, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Syria. He has a Doctorate in Piano/Chamber Music from the Peabody Conservatory where he worked with Samuel Sanders and he has taught music at Dartmouth College, UNCA, and Johns Hopkins University. He also attended Harvard Law School at the same time as former President Obama.

"VIRTUOSO VIOLIN"
Great violin and piano music by Faure, Beethoven, Kreisler, and Gershwin
Roseminna Watson, violin;      Daniel Weiser, piano

A program of great music for violin and piano featuring a phenomenal young violinist coming up from Austin, TX. I first met Rosey (as she is known) as a child prodigy in Hanover, NH and we performed together several times when she was only a teenager. She has since studied music at Yale, San Francisco Conservatory, and SUNY at Stony Brook, became first violinist of the Aiana String Quartet that won a prize at the prestigious Coleman International Chamber Music Competition, and ultimately settled in Austin, where the quartet was in residency at U.T Austin. On this concert, we will perform the lush and incredibly beautiful Violin Sonata by Gabriel Faure as well as an early Sonata by Beethoven and short works by Kreisler and Gershwin.

Roseminna McLeod Watson, violin, began playing the instrument at the age of three and she trained early at the New England Conservatory Prep Department. After earning a B.A. in Graphic Design from Yale University in 2005, Roseminna continued her musical studies at Stony Brook University where she completed a Masters in Violin Performance while studying with Ani Kavafian and Pamela Frank among others. She completed an Artist’s Diploma in Chamber Music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and joined the Aiana String Quartet in 2010 as first violinist. The quartet won the String Prize at the Coleman International Chamber Music Competition in 2011 and was the Scholarship Quartet in Residence at San Diego State University. The Quartet went on to become the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the Butler School of Music at UT Austin under the mentorship of the Miró Quartet. Since the Aiana String Quartet’s amicable dissolution in 2013, Roseminna has been rebalancing her energy, reconnecting with her deep calling as a musician, artist, and writer, and allowing new channels to be opened in all realms of her being. She is ecstatic to have recently launched the performance entity, MOHINYA, that will continue developing and integrating all aspects of her creative self.

"A NIGHT IN VIENNA"
Encore performance with scenes from operas by Mozart, Lehar, and Strauss

Amanda Horton, soprano;  Jonathan Ross, baritone;  Daniel Weiser, piano

We performed this show three times in March, but it was so good and so well-received that we thought we would bring it back a couple more times for those who did not see it (or for those who want to see it again!).  Asheville favorites Amanda and Jonathan have put together a fabulous show with scenes from three Mozart operas (Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni, and Magic Flute) as well as wonderful songs from The Merry Widow by Lehar and Die Fledermaus by Strauss.
You don't want to miss this musical voyage to Vienna!

"DANDY D'INDY"
Great Piano Trios for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano
Image result for d'indy
Lawrence Stomberg, cello; Vincent D'Indy, composer; Steve & Dan, clarinet & piano

A program featuring a powerful, but neglected Piano Trio for clarinet, cello, and piano by the Romantic French composer, Vincent D'Indy! We will also perform the early Piano Trio for the same instrumental combination by Beethoven, a piece much closer in sound to Haydn and Mozart than the later Beethoven. Two other small pieces by Friedrich Voight and Emil Hartmann fill out the program. Join us at our wonderful home in the Guilford area for a truly intimate chamber music concert with some exciting music you rarely hear along with some great food and drink!

Lawrence Stomberg, cello, has been hailed for his "style and elegance" and "lyrical expressiveness." He enjoys a wide-ranging career as soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue. He currently serves as cellist of the acclaimed Serafin String Quartet and has performed throughout the U.S., Europe, South America, and China. Stomberg served on the faculties at Truman State University in Missouri and Oklahoma State University before joining the music faculty at the University of Delaware in 2004, where he is currently Associate Professor of Cello. He lives in Delaware with his wife, cellist Jennifer Crowell Stomberg and their three children. Mr. Stomberg plays a School of Testore cello, circa 1727, obtained with the generous assistance of Dr. William Stegeman.

Steve Loew, clarinet, is a former member of the US Marine Band and a member of the White House Orchestra who has performed for Presidents Ford, Carter, Reagan, and Bush Senior. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Mr. Loew has also played with the New York Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra, and has collaborated with such artists as Marvin Hamlisch, Doc Severinsen, Roberta Flack, Meatloaf, Barbara Cook, and Johnny Mathis.
Mr. Loew was born in Brooklyn, NY and now lives in Asheville, NC.
