Last year, this wonderful folk music duo came for a couple fun shows including our special "Picnic for Peace" hosted by our favorite clarinetist, Steve Loew (who went to high school with the DeMasi's).  They are back for more with catchy songs about peace along with some biting political humor.

This program honors the Veterans from World War II and all those soldiers who have fought for our country.   Take a nostalgic trip back in time as we present some wonderful songs from the 1940's including Chattanooga Choo Choo, Sentimental Journey, GI Jive, and Moonlight Serenade.  We will also present scenes from two great Musicals of that decade, Bernstein's "On the Town" and Rodgers and Hammerstein's award-winning "South Pacific."

THE DeMASI BROTHERS----May 28-29
    
  Joseph and John, the DeMasi Bros. began their folk music career in the folk clubs and coffeehouses in and around New York City where they were born and raised. As part of the 80's folk music revival scene they appeared and performed regularly at Greenwich Villages famed music club "the Speak Easy" and were featured performers on the "Fast Folk" music series. They shared the stage with such folk legends as Harry and Tom Chapin, Christine Lavin and Oscar Brand and have appeared regularly on NPR radio.  They now tour regularly throughout the US and have appeared on many TV shows including "Good Morning America", Crook and Chase" and "Entertainment Tonight".
Come hear some of their political humor and songs for peace and justice!

This is a free forty-five minute concert made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Arts Council.  The DeMasi brothers will sing some of their fun songs and will be joined by clarinetist Steve Loew and pianist Daniel Weiser, who will add some Klezmer and jazz numbers.  This is a fun show for the entire family and for all ages.
