Piano Trios by Max Richter and Astor Piazzolla
based on Vivaldi's "Four Seasons"
June 10-12, 2025
We are excited to perform this intriguing program that will combine two different Piano Trios that are a response to Vivaldi’s famous “Four Seasons.” Max Richter, a German-born British composer, takes Vivaldi’s tunes and decomposes and recomposes them into constantly repeating loops that produce an almost ghostly reflection of the original, producing a very minimalist approach that puts the listener into a truly hypnotic trance. Astor Piazzolla, the Argentinian composer who helped bring the tango into the classical world, takes a decidedly more forceful and aggressive approach in his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires that echo the tension of that erotic dance of love. We will combine these two versions, alternating Richter’s seasons with Piazzollas to produce our own exciting Remix of Vivaldi’s amazing work. We hope you enjoy this very unique musical experience.
