AmiciMusic is a chamber music organization based in Asheville, NC and Baltimore, MD, dedicated to performing the highest quality chamber music in intimate venues and non-traditional spaces. We are committed to breaking down barriers between performers and audiences by setting up a more relaxed and informal atmosphere at concerts and through informative talks about each composer’s life before each piece is played.
Fantastic music by Gershwin, Arlen, Rodgers, Bernstein, Sondheim, Webber, and more
May 28-30, 2021
Join AmiciMusic for this very fun Memorial Day weekend program exploring the history of Broadway songs from the 1920s to the 1980s. Artistic Director and pianist Daniel Weiser will be joined by violinist Timothy Schwarz to perform some fantastic arrangements of your favorite Broadway songs by Gershwin, Rodgers, Sondheim, Bernstein, Webber and more including “Over the Rainbow,” “Send in the Clowns,” “Some Enchanted Evening,” and “Memory”. Schwarz and Weiser were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors which resulted in a two month tour of the Middle East and Southeast Asia, where they performed great American music in eleven different countries. Formerly known as the Upper Valley Duo, they always bring incredible passion, virtuosity, and excitement to all their programs. This will be a great program to celebrate the ending phase (hopefully) of this terrible pandemic!
Check out a video of the Duo performing Heifitz’s arrangement of tunes from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess:
We are finally back in our favorite home for concerts! The amazing Dan and Jerry are going to open their house to a limited amount of guests, who must be vaccinated and wearing masks. There is no better place to see or hear a concert in all of Western North Carolina. Come up to see the amazing views and hear the great acoustics in their amazing living room. We will have appetizers and light food as well as wine for this program, but not the usual full dinner that Jerry is famous for—guests may be asked to wear plastic gloves that we will provide to serve food. We are hoping that the weather will be nice enough to eat outside. We do want to be as careful as possible and we hope all guests will follow any protocols that are in place. Cost is $35pp. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Sign up below. You do not need to have a PayPal account to pay online–just click on the grey “Checkout” button after you click the yellow “Add to Cart” button below to use any major credit card. You can add as many seats as you want on that page as well. If you prefer to call to make reservations, call Daniel Weiser at 802-369-0856. See you very soon!
THIS CONCERT IS NOW SOLD OUT! If you would like to get on our waitlist (we may be able to let a few more people in), please call Daniel Weiser directly at 802-369-0856 or send him an email at daniel@amicimusic.org. Thank you for your continued support!
We return to the fantastic White Horse Black Mountain, one of the best listening rooms in the country. Bob Hinkle and his amazing crew have managed to keep their doors open through the whole pandemic with the help of Rebekkah Hilgraves and her RadHaus Studios, which is producing incredible Livestream videos from the White Horse stage. They will continue to have Livestream concerts available so you can either watch this concert from your home or come on down in person since White Horse is now allowing limited audience members to attend. To buy seats to attend this concert in person ($18), please visit: https://www.whitehorseblackmountain.com/. Scroll down their home page until you see our concert listed and click on the yellow “Get Tickets” button. Or you can call them to reserve at 828-669-0816. If you can only watch via Livestream, I think you need to link to the following page at the time of the concert: https://www.whitehorseblackmountain.com/white-horse-live-player. Please do consider making a donation to their Tip Jar to help support the musicians and White Horse as well. You will see info on that page on how to do that.
