Join the sensational clarinetist Seth Kibel and pianist/Artistic Director Daniel Weiser for this exciting program that highlights the musical experiences of Jews and other immigrants coming to the United States at the turn of the 20th century.  The confluence of cultures would help to spark a wonderful and intriguing synthesis of musical idioms, as the Eastern European Klezmer style combined with Ragtime and Dixieland to help produce a wonderful new sound.  Many of the great composers and songwriters of the era, including Harold Arlen, Benny Goodman, and George Gershwin, were either immigrants themselves or first-generation Americans trying to find their place in a new country. This program will feature one of the greatest works of the 20th century, Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” in a wonderful arrangement for clarinet and piano.
