Acclaimed cellist Amy Barston, praised as “passionate and elegant” by the New York Times, joins pianist Daniel Weiser in this powerful program of music by some forgotten female composers. Barston and Weiser will perform works by Amy Beach, Nadia Boulanger, Mel Bonis, and Dora Pecacevic, all of whom had amazing careers and wrote a large amount of music that is rarely performed today. This is intense and lyrical music with innovative harmonies that deserves to be a major part of the cello repertoire. Ms. Barston soloed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the age of 17, studied with the famed pedagogue Joel Krosnick, cellist with the Juilliard String Quartet, and has performed on many of the great stages, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and the Ravinia Festival. You won’t want to miss this fantastic performance!
