Listen here to Muphen Whitney’s Podcast about our “An American Affair” benefit concert for the Music Foundation of Greater Naples on Friday, January 17:

AmiciMusic returns to Florida for more great chamber music programs in intimate settings.  This year, Artistic Director and pianist Daniel Weiser is bringing the fabulous internationally renowned violinist Timothy Schwarz to perform with him.  Schwarz and Weiser got their graduate degrees together at Peabody and were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors of Music, which resulted in a two month tour of eleven countries in the Middle East and Southeast Asia playing American music. Formerly known as the Upper Valley Duo, they always bring incredible passion, virtuosity, and excitement to all their programs.  They will perform four different programs across the state from Pompano Beach to St. Petersburg to Naples.   Scroll down to the bottom to see all the dates and venues and to buy tickets.

PROGRAM I:  JAZZICAL –A thrilling crossover program exploring the connections between classical and jazz music through the works of Claude Bolling, William Grant Still, George Gershwin, and Leonard Bernstein.  This program features Bolling’s incredible Suite for Violin and Jazz Piano written for Pinchas Zukerman plus fantastic arrangements of songs from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Bernstein’s West Side Story.

PROGRAM II:  BROADWAY VIOLIN–Fantastic arrangements of your favorite Broadway songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Harold Arlen, Jerome Kern, and more along with virtuosic renditions of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and Bernstein’s West Side Story.  You will not want to miss it!

PROGRAM III:  JEWISH JAZZ–Another program exploring the fantastic connections between Jewish music and the beginnings of American Jazz featuring exciting Klezmer music plus Gershwin, Bernstein, and more.

PROGRAM IV:  AN AMERICAN AFFAIR—An exploration of some wonderful American music by composers including Amy Beach, William Grant Still, George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and more.
