“GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN”

Spirituals, Ragtime, and a Celebration of African-American Music

February 1-3, 2019

Join soprano Simone Vigilante and pianist Daniel Weiser as they celebrate Black History Month with a special program of African-American Spirituals and Ragtime.  Hear the great passion and heartfelt fervor in these incredible songs that have rightfully moved from the cotton fields to the concert stage.  Explore the human condition and the incredible power of music to help bring oppressed peoples some comfort while also making comfortable people more acutely aware of the suffering around them.  Ms. Vigilante has sung across the country, bringing her powerful voice to opera, musical theater, and Churches.  Dr. Weiser has performed in over twenty countries around the world and has great stories to tell about these Spirituals as well as the birth of Ragtime at the beginning of the 20th century.
