“JOHANNES BRAHMS”

Power, Piano, and Passion

October 13-November 3, 2021

In this four-part Zoom course, we will explore the powerful and passionate music of Johannes Brahms with a focus on his amazing piano music.  From his epic Ballades to his intense Sonatas to his lyrical Intermezzos, Brahms helped create a new sound for the piano that mirrored the rise of the piano during the 19th century as it developed into its modern form.  The new depth of sound as well as the greater possibilities for subtle nuance and extreme dynamics helped Brahms produce some truly dramatic piano music that encompass all the human emotions.  This course will be a Zoom course open to anyone.  There will also be about 20 spaces available in my home in Baltimore for those who want to attend in person.   Each session will be two hours long and each will be recorded so if you cannot attend a particular session, I can send you the link to the Zoom recording.
