“THE JEWISH SPIRIT”
Great chamber music with Jewish Influences

Works by Shostakovich, Popper, Engel, and Bloch

September 20, 2020

This concert celebrates the Jewish musical experience in this holiest of months in the Jewish calendar.   Despite long years of persecution and the horrors of the Holocaust, the Jewish “sound” has been a strong force in music as a way to show resilience and strength—laughter in the face of tears.  Emmanuel and Frances Borowsky will join me on this Livestream program that will include the incredibly powerful Shostakovich Trio, written during World War II, which contains some of the most profound and deeply moving music ever written.  We will also include works by David Popper, Ernest Bloch, and Joel Engel.
