Alicia Ward, Cello

Alicia Ward  has performed throughout the United States and internationally as a soloist, chamber musician, and recitalist. Her performances have taken her across North America, Europe, and Japan, with appearances in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Strathmore, Davies Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and several embassies in Washington, D.C. Ward was selected as an Artist in Residence at Strathmore, where she appeared in numerous performances as a featured recitalist. An active chamber musician, she has performed at leading festivals and programs including the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, the Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar in San Francisco, and the International Music Academy in the Czech Republic. She was also one of twelve cellists selected to participate in the prestigious International Piatigorsky Seminar for Cellists. A prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions, Ward was awarded Grand Prize in the Music Teachers National Association Young Artists Competition, the Fairfax Symphony Feuer String Competition, and the Washington Performing Arts Society Competition. She has also received top prizes in the Lennox International Competition, the National Symphony Orchestra Soloist Competition, and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, where she performed with her piano trio. Ward received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory and her Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory, where she was awarded merit scholarships. She currently serves on the cello faculty of the Peabody Preparatory and is Co-Director of the Young People’s String Program.
