Hsiang-Hsin Ching, Viola

Hsiang-Hsin Ching is a dedicated Taiwanese violist and recording engineer, recognized for her
artistry and technical expertise. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Recording Arts and Sciences
and Viola Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and is currently
pursuing a Master’s degree in Viola Performance under the mentorship of Professor Choong-Jin
Chang. Ching’s orchestral experience is extensive, having served as principal violist and an orchestra
academy member at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in 2018 and 2019. She was also a
fellow at the 2020 Taipei Music Academy and Festival and the 2022 Aspen Music Festival and
School. In winter 2023, she joined the New York String Orchestra. As a sought-after orchestral
musician, Ching performs regularly with both the Philadelphia Orchestra and the National
Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, Ching has made significant contributions, including her role as Quartet-
in-Residence with the Nosremé Quartet at the Texas Chamber Music Institute. She attended the
Taos School of Music in 2023 and the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival in 2024, deepening her
chamber music collaborations with world-renowned artists. Her recent accomplishments include winning First Prize in the 2024 Mary Graham Lesley
Concerto Competition and Third Prize in the Yale Gordon Competition. She also distinguished
herself as a quarterfinalist in the prestigious 2024 Primrose International Viola Competition,
marking her as a rising talent in the viola community.
