Leah Dutton, Cello

Leah Dutton began playing cello at age 16 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and her Master’s Degree from the Federal University of Paraíba in João Pessoa, Brazil. While in Brazil, she was the principal cellist of the Paraiba Symphony Orchestra and cello professor at the Anthenor Navarro State Music School. In 2022, she received her Doctorate in Cello Performance with a concentration in physical therapy and rehabilitation for musicians’ injuries from the University of Georgia, and is currently a cellist in the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the music librarian for the Savannah Philharmonic’s orchestra and chorus. Leah also performs with the Charleston, Hilton Head, Coastal and Augusta Symphonies, is the cellist of the Savannah Candlelight Quartet, is a member of the Cathedral Choir at the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, and greatly enjoys teaching aspiring cellists of all ages. When she is not making music, she enjoys relaxing with her cat, taking on increasingly ambitious home renovation projects, cooking, and long walks outside in beautiful Savannah.
